The DOB given on the death index is only 'as known' to the person registering the death..........so it is not guaranteed to be accurate. |

6 weeksor 42 days from birth was and still is the legal requirement,,so a mid month birth often carried into the next Qtr,or within the same Qtr, of birth ,,depending on the parents,,,, |

Ok thanks. I think this might just have to be left out of my tree. It seems impossible to get a date of death unless you actually knew the person. |

Normally they can be found in the following month after the birth, but possibly if a child was ill or not expected to survive they may have forgotten to register in the time limit. The birth date given in the death index is generally given by the informant and can be inaccurate. |

How long did people sometimes take to register births in 1914? Is it likely for someone born in May 1914 to have not been registered until Q4? |
