Can any historian out there suggest a reason why my gt gt gt grandmother was born in Zante, Greece in the 1826? Later English census information describes her as a British subject when she returned to Britain. Was the English Army in Greece at that time perhaps? It seems an odd place just to go and live, at that time, unless there was a specific reason. I don't know how I would begin to search for her birth details - any ideas would be gratefully received.
