Family History Society - do you know?

They didn't have certificates back then, Jennifer. Most christening/baptism records contained no more info than what you have gleaned from the IGI, occasionally a record might have stated the father's occupation, or if they were from another parish, or the age of the child if they were not a baby at time of baptism - but those "extras" are few and far between, I've found.

Hope this is not too stupid a question! I have three IGI records - they are extracted birth or christening records and the parish is St Botolph's without Aldgate. They tell me the names of the parents, dates and the names of the children. What more would I learn by ordering certificates from the Family History Society? How do you do this? They are all from 1775-1783. Any suggestions?
