Hi Jill

I switched to Vista a few months ago, and don't really notice much difference from XP - although I don't try to do anything very clever either.

Hi Jill,
I see no reason why your laptop is "on it's way out" unless of course you are having problems with it.

Very often they tend to slow down (most computers) after time as you install more and more software and unfortunately when you remove software, it does not always clear out all the files or registry settings. Your computer then slows down and you can make a cup of time while waiting for it to boot up.
Another reason why they slow down is that the information on the hard disk tends to become fragmented with time.
Run a defrag since this will often help to give a little bit of speed back.

A free Registry Cleaner is CCleaner which you can find if you google for it. This program will remove rubbish from your Registry.

Vista!, not yet have it as I am waiting for any bugs to be ironed out of it first but people I know appear to be happy with it in the main.
Bye
Paul

I am pursuaded that my laptop is on it's way out - bit like me really LOL. I would like to know what difference there is in Vista. Mine is 5 years old and I'm self taught. Is there a lot more to learn with Vista?? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
