Thank you so much for looking into. Christopher Bertie Bentley is a cousin and is also on my tree. It is very confusing as the name Christopher seems popular at that time. This Christophers parents are Alfred and Beulah (Rosina) . Christopher Franks parents were Walter Bentley and Charlotte Bye, . Two brothers married two sisters and both had Christophers.
My Father is Ernest George Bentley, parents Walter and Charlotte, brother of Christopher Frank.

I know this must seem very confusing but all the facts are correct

Thanks Mary, I have also tried. This is a bit of a mystery. His name was definately Christopher Frank Bentley, born Dec 1893, Hertfordshire, in the village of Nuthampstead. Still I will not give up.!!

I've tried the full index from 1901 to 1916 (I'm presuming you Dad would remember him if he was still alive then) and nothing for Christopher.

Thank you all for replying. I am pretty certain he died as child, as I was surprised initially to hear of his existence, but he is shown on 1901 census. My Dad (his brother) was born in 1911 , and there was ne ver any mention of a Christopher. So I am assuming as all my Dads other siblings reached maturity, that he died.
Will try the full GRO index.

What makes you think he died as a child ?

Freebmd shows the marriage of several Christopher Bentleys, .....Do you know that each one is not him.
Often middle names can be left off registers.

A search on the full GRO index would probably show more matches.

Have you checked the Complete BMD Index on Ancestry - year by year and quarter by quarter

I have been trying to find my uncle Christopher Frank Bentley's date of death . He was born Dec. 1893, Nuthampstead, Herts, which comes under Parish of Barkway, Herts. Searched Ancestry records. Been to Hertford R.O. no luck on baptisms either. I am told they were Non Conformist , but there was a little Mission Hall in the village. He was still alive in 1901 census, but must hav e died as a child as obviously didn't reach maturity.


Could anyone suggest anything else I could do to find this out.?
