Could someone please look up this record on the 1901:

John Hibbert 34 born Derbyshire Bieston Lancashire, Census Newton In Makerfield
Occ: Coachman Domestic

There is no Bieston, Derbyshire in my Atlas of the UK - could it say something else?
I'd also like to know who John was living with.

Many thanks,
Annette

Yes, thanks. On the 1901 online the place is spelt Bieston!

Would you be able to list all others on the same census page?

Thanks, Annette

The only Baston now listed is in Lincolnshire.
Maybe they wrote down the wrong County?

Why do you need all the names from the census page?

Image could be Buxton but that would be clutching at straws

Is there a Beeston in Derbyshire?

[Edit - no, although there is in Notts, Yorks, Ches, Norf and Beds!

- the one in Notts is quite close to the Derbys border, and there is a Breaston a little further down the road ... ]

I'm searching for my Great Granddad but don't know where he was born!

I know he lodged with my Great Grandma before they married.

Just searching for any clues that would help me find out where he was on the 1901; then I can match him up with the earlier census.

Thanks for all your help,
Annette

What is your gt grandmothers name?

Hi Maureen,

Having looked at the image, I think you're right about Buxton - the x is formed as a slope up with a vertical downstroke - quite different from the s in Earlestown and in Cheshire on the two lines above [10 points off for both Ancestry and 1901 census transcribers! ]

Margaret,

My Great Grandma was Martha Jane BATE (maiden name).

When Martha married for the 1st time she was Martha J Baker and I have found her on the 1901 living in Yorkshire with her 5 children (widowed).

My Grandma was born in June 1902 so she must have met John (Thomas) Hibbert, my Great Granddad by about Sept 1901 - at the earliest!

Another mystery is that they only married in 1913 ... Martha then using the surname BINKLEY and John "Thomas" stated he was a bachelor.

I know where they lived from 1902 onwards (Wigan, Lancs) because I have all their children's birth & marriage certs.

Its a mystery!

Thanks to everyone who has checked the census for me.
