Thanks . Obviously the child was staying with her grandparents on the night but as maryjane-sue said her parents didn't understand. Have been trying to work this out for weeks!!!

Strangely I have just been trying to sort
1881
Peter O Conner Kathrine abt 1848 Hull, Yorkshire, England Head Kingston-Upon-Hull, Yorkshire
View Record
Peter O Connor Catherine abt 1848 Hull, Yorkshire, England Head Kingston-Upon-Hull, Yorkshire
Turns out although one had been crossed off it was still transcribed!!!

Probably because when the census was taken the head of the house didnt understand that they only had to give the names of the people in the house in the night in question - instead they gave all the children's names, whether they were there or not.

Thanks Glitter Babe. Do you know why it happened if the census was taken on the same day.

Is it possible for the same person to be on the same census at two different addresses. One of my ancestors is on the 1851 aged 6 census living with her parents but she is also at a different address living with her grandparents on the same census.

Anybody have any ideas please

Barbara
