Mary,

Many thanks for the reply. Yes you are right, how disappointing though! E-mailed GR last night and received a reply first thing this morning (Great service)! They said the same as you that the photo is generic. What a shame, but at least I now know the answer.

Thank you all for your help.

Lainey x

P.S That picture is of someone's relative? I wonder who?

Jennifer,

Many thanks for taking the time to give advice. I took your advice and tried this but unfortunately it did not work for me. In fact I was unable to centre the picture or do anything with it. I am able to highlight all other info on the page and copy but not the photo. Have now e-mailed GR in the hope that they will be able to tell me how to get a copy from their source.

Thanks again Lainey x

If the right click option is disabled, there is another way round it. Make sure you have the picture you want centred on your screen, then press the PrtSc button on your keyboard, open up whatever imaging programme you have and paste as a new image, you can then crop the image leaving just the picture, then save it as normal.

If by any chance you don't have an imaging programme, you can do the same thing by pasting it into Paint

Sam, thank you for your reply. I tried that but the facility was not available. Thanks anyway.

Heather Posi, thanks for the advice I already have membership with ancestry and will try there.

Potty, thank you for the help. I have looked this rellie upo on CWGC and got some great info off that site.

The reason I posted this thread is because I received an e-mail from GR informing me of info on this site re: a reliie who died in the war. On investigating further, I bought viewing units which I don't normally do on here. Usually just stick to Ancestry. When viewing the info there was a picture of the rellie in his uniform and all his army details/info, which I have not come across on any other site, so as you can imagine I was quite excited and wanted to save it, but could not find the facility for saving the info, mainly the photo.

Thank you all for your input and help. Take care.

Not sure how complete the WW1 records on here are or what they contain but I have just done a search for an uncle who died and he isn't on here - he is on the CWGC site which is free to search.

Oh, dont buy units on GR - you would be much better off taking a sub to ancestry.co.uk - you can even access all the records on a free trial for 14 days.

Dont know what they have on here with photos though. I thought they just had the deaths from WW1 and WW2.

I have no idea what war records are on GR or in what format but usually to save a photo, you just right click on it and chose 'Save Picture As..' and then save it wherever you want it.

Hello,

I am just on my way to work so please forgive non replies till later in the day.

I have just looked at a war record for a relative on GR. Very helpful, with photo as well. However I think I am being thick here as I could not see how to save this info to my pc. I especially want to save the picture. Is there a way of doing this or is this faciulity not available. Many thanks for any help or advice offered.
