I tried that link but it asked for a password - which i don't have. And i couldn't find anywhere to sign up to get a password!

You may find out more in a local paper. Hope this link works -

I found some references to the murder in old issues of the Times.
Haven't checked Black Sheep - but i will do.

It is an awful crime - but thoroughly more fascinating than a lot of the rest of my tree!

Yeah, found out plenty for him. Born Dolgelly 1852, executed Dolgelly 1877.

I think i've found him in 1861 with parents Lewis Jones and Elizabeth. So if he's the right one then either Lewis or Elizabeth will be a sibling to either Evan Jones or Mary Jones (Isaac's parents)

Thanks for clarifying on that - maybe i will finally have some luck traking this lot on the 1841 census.

Sounds OK to me, though the term cousin was used more loosly then I think.
Very exciting to find something so gruesome! Have you tried looking it up in the old newpaper site? Can't remember the link offhand, but had a lot of fun looking up bits and pieces there myself. Black Sheep index may have it too.

Ok, this may be a bit long and possibly confusing (depends on how well my brain is working!)

I have found a excerpt from a book about my g g g grandad Isaac Jones.

It says "The family of this man [Isaac Jones] seem to be unreal. His cousin, Cadwalader Jones, murdered his fiancee whom he'd got into trouble, by cutting her body into several portions and throwing the parts into the river at Dolgelly:"

I have found some info about Cadwalader from google and have ordered some books which will hopefully give more details.

What i want to do though is use Caddy to find out more info about Isaac's Joneses parents.
If he was Isaac's cousin then he would have to be the child of a sibling of either Isaac's mum or dad - is that right or am i just getting myself confused?
