I have found on GR someone whom I think is 99.99% connected to me. I have twice emailed them through GR but have not had any reply.

I expect it could be that they have not logged onto GR recently, but then your email box will tell you that someone is sending a message.

In case this person has changed their email address, I assume they would have to inform GR, but would the account stay the same and would all communication to that person would be re-directed to the new address?

I have wanted to track this side of my family down as I am sure I have info that could be of great interest to them and vice versa. I knew where they were about 15 years ago but they must have moved as I am unable to find them in phone books/electoral registers.

Guidance on the possible new email address/GR would be appreciated.

Sometimes it takes a long time to get a reply.
Have you been waiting long? Maybe they are on holiday, or as you say haven't checked their mail.
Don't give up hope.
My longest wait for a reply on GR was about 4 years !

If they have changed their email,,they may not into the email account now,,,,if they have changed ISP,same reasons, if they havn't notified GR with a change of email address, then GR cant redirect from here,,,as they will still olny hold what the registered with,,,

but dont give up,as gwen says could be a number of simple reasons,

They might not have ticked the option to let them know there was a GR message. So unless they log onto GR they might not know.

I think those of us on here have the family tree research at the front of out minds most of the time. Other people 'have a go' at research which is when they add their tree. They then go off doing other things and don't give any more thought to the tree. I guess some are so little interested that they ignore the e mails from GR.
