No, historical ER's are not online...........they are held at the main public library for the area covered.
They are searchable by address.

Current ER's are on 192.com

Hi Joy,
I just followed the URL you gave for records and couldn't find anything for electoral roles, just census.
Am I doing something wrong ? Can Electoral Roles be seen online ? Is there a fee ? Thanks.
Margaret

Changes were made during the 1800's which allowed more men to vote as pereviously only the minority landed gentry were enfranchised.

However, as Reggie has stated, universal franchise for men over 21 didn't happen until 1918, and only women over 30 were allowed to vote, it was to be a further 10 years before the franchise was extended to women over 21.

"6 February 2008 marks the 90th anniversary of Royal Assent to the Representation of the People Act 1918. This Act allowed some women to vote for the very first time.
2008 is a very significant anniversary year for women in Parliament for other reasons too. It marks the 80th anniversary of the Equal Franchise Act 1928, which gave women the vote on the same terms as men."

Some interesting facts below..............surprising to realise how recently women gained voting rights in supposedly 'developed' countries!

1869 - Wyoming Territory in the USA is the first place in the world to give votes to women.
1893 - New Zealand is the first country to give women the vote.
1902 - Australia , although aboriginal women were not eligible to vote until 1967, when along with aboriginal men, they were granted full citizenship.
1906 - Finland is the first country in Europe to give women the vote.
1917 - Russia
1918 - United Kingdom (partial), Germany, Canada, Austria.
1920 - The USA, but not Native American women.
1925 - Italy
1928 - United Kingdom (full), Ireland
1930 - South Africa , but only to white women. Indian and 'coloured' women won the vote in 1984 and black women in 1994.
1931 - Spain
1932 - Brazil
1944 - France
1945 - Italy
1946 - Kenya, Palestine,
1947 - China, Pakistan,
1948 - Israel, Iraq,
1950 - India
1952 - Greece
1953 - Mexico
1956 - Egypt, Tunisia, Mauritius
1957 - Malaysia
1962 - Algeria
1971 - Switzerland
1974 - Jordan
1976 - Portugal
2001 - Bahrain
