Thanks all, I have done that and it does seem to be a bit quicker. I didn't know if I should uninstall it, but will give it another chance.

There have been some problems reported with the latest edition of Ad-Aware by some users. It appears to trace back to a Service which the program runs in background called aawservice.exe which takes up a disproportionate amount or resource.

The latest updates should resolve the problem but if this doesn't help, you could try the following.

1. Open the Services Management Console in Control Panel (or Click Start, Run, type in "services.msc" without the quotes, click OK).

2. Find "Lavasoft Ad-Aware Service" on the list and double-click it.

3. For the Startup Type, choose "Manual". Click OK and close the Services window.

The program aawservices.exe will no longer start at Windows startup, but will auto-load as needed whenever you run Ad-Aware 2007.

It will remain running after you close Ad-Aware 2007, but you can safely kill it from the Windows Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del, Processes tab).

Hi All,

I have just downloaded Ad-aware 8 for free. Had the one before and never had any trouble, but since getting this my computer seems to be on a go slowwwww. I also have AVG which I find very good. The question is, shall I remove the Ad-Aware.
