information about medical record ??

is there anyway of being able to access
medical records of a family member who has died.

It depends when they died, some records are 'closed' for 100 years although I got my g-grandads medical records from 1935.

ive bean reading some info on my grand farther
and he spent alot of time in hospital.
i would like to see his records to find out all that was wrong with him .

If you get his death cert it will /should have his medical problems. Depends when he died

Hi Margaret
i do have his death cert and know how he died.
however he was in the care of DR barnardos for a while
and on the information i got from them it said he was in and out of hospital for the 1st few years of his life, due to a spinal problem.
and when he went into the home it gave information about scaring and stuff.
i just thought it would be good to find out what his condition actually was and what all the ops was for .

They may have been destroyed. I tried to get records of my stay in an isolation hospital in the 1960's - I knew I was in there, but no-one told my parents why - and was told they were destroyed after 25 years!!!
Unfortunately, these records never followed me from Scotland to England, so my doctor has no record either.

not sure if my grandads have bean destroyed
i have not yet tried to obtain them.
im going to phone the hospital that he was being treated in tomorrow,
hopefully they will be able to let me know .
