New at this and struggling, don't know where I go to find some information.

Need help found my grandad, William John Boulton born 1912 from chelsea, know he had a brother Fred and a sister Bella, but do not know what year they were born?

Questions: How do I find out year people born? how do I find out what children certain people further down the line had?

You only find mothers maiden name after about 1910 then you go gack and look for a Haynes Boulton marriage like this one

If Amelia is his daughter, you have to trawl through every quarter around the year she was born because only the full register lists nearly everybirth.

Like I cant see a bella but she might be isabel or that could be a second name.

Have you got membership to www.Ancestry.co.uk ?

Thats the best place to view the FULL BMD indexes.

You need this (plus buying the certs) to get you back to finding someome living in 1901 and then you can look at the census and work back from there...

If you cant afford membership....theres always plenty of willing eyes/hands on here that will gladley look for you....just please remember to say thankyou.

You now need to find the Marriage of William and Amelia Boulton.

If you know the age of the 1st born child they had....that will give you a starting point....

Or!...find the birth reg of any of thier children..buy the cert (£7) and it will tell you the Mothers maiden name....

If you have got Ancestry and want to search the full BMD....

click on 'Search'....Then look down the right hand side and click on ' - England & Wales, BMD Index'....then click on either Births/Marriages or Deaths....

Put in one name and year and away you go....

4 quarters to each year....
