Hi Marcelle,

I don't think you can send your test via Winbmd. Just attach it to an email to them. When you start properly, you use Winbmd to upload to Freebmd.

Hope this helps, if you need more help check out the thread on records office board "Freebmd - thought of volunteering?", I'll nudge it for you.

Thanks,

Vicky X

I have been transcribing for a few months now, and once you get the hang of it, its really easy. I use freebmd all the time and its saved me hours of searching through records trying to find a birth, marriage or death, so I would like to say a big THANKS!!!, to all the volunteers out there who give up their time so freely for a good cause.

Tracie.

Thanks Vicky, and well done.

I hope to be in a position to join the list of subscribers in a month or so. Having retired last year, we are trying to get the house decorated / rebuilt first before settling down to something more peaceful.

Thanks to you both, the more people that get involved the quicker it will be available to everyone to use.

There is also the sister sites that are not so well known:

Freecen - census' being transcribed for free
Freereg - parish records are being transcibed

both are in need of more volunteers if anyone has a little spare time. Contact the relevant co-ordinators if you are interested.

Also, keep a lookout as they are all updated regularly and you might find some ancestors on them!

Thanks

Freebmd was updated yesterday so it's worth looking if your relatives weren't there before.

I've just started transcribing for it this month and it's really easy. Once it's been updated, it tells you how many records you've done and so far I've done 1,650.

You can do as much or as little as you want, so if you've got a bit of spare time, why not?
