HMS Curacao - Was a Ceres Class cruiser ordered in June 1916 in an Emergency War Programme and built by HM Dockyard Pembroke and laid down in July of that year. The ship was laid down on 13th July 1916 and launched on 5th May 1917 as the fourth RN ship to carry this name, introduced in 1809. After completion on 18th February 1918 she served with the Grand Fleet. HMS CURACOA was selected for conversion to an Anti-Aircraft Cruiser in 1939 and gave distinguished service with the Home Fleet during the Norwegian campaign in 19*10. After a WARSHIP WEEK in March 1912 she was adopted by the civil community of Wolverhampton. She was sunk on 2nd October 1942

Your relative was an Ordinary Telegraphist (the equivelent today would be a Radio Operator).

Unfortunately Arthur's body was not recovered and he was listed as MPK (Missing Presumed Killed)

Thanks Col
I believe that could be him as his father was Arthur Percy Hall who always used the name Percy, his son could well have followed his example.

I have the list of the casualties from HMS Curaco but there is no Kenneth Hall listed, there is however an Arthur K Hall, could that have been him?

there are only two RN Kenneth Halls listed on the CWGC site and both of those died in 1945

The HMS Curacao was cut in half by the Queen Mary in the North Atlantic on 2nd of October 1942. The accident was not reported at the time and I am unable to find the names and ranks of those that were killed as they are not on the official lists that I have checked. One of my relations Kenneth HALL was lost that night and I would like to find out his rank etc.

Thanks
