It just meant that they went to school, rather than being a worker

I have a lot of relations listed on the census as scholars would this have meant they were just taught at home to read and write or would they have had to pay someone to teach them.

Also most of them went on to be servants before getting married,would this be classed as working class now or would it mean they were poor.
