Thank you all for your replies and help. I wondered if there were any web sites with lists of names of the members of the 1st Royal Warwickshire Regiment, but I haven't managed to find any yet!

Gwyn, PM sent to you, Thanks so much for your offer of help.

I live not too far from Folkestone.
I would imagine that an unmarried person would live in the barracks whereas married people might live in married quarters nearby.
Did they stay in the area after marriage?
If so I could check electoral rolls for you if he was in that immediate area. They are searched by address not surname though, so I could only check roads that I know are 'on camp'.

Let me know by a direct message if you'd like me to check.

Shorncliffe Barracks is near Folkestone and close to the Channel Tunnel entrance. I believe it is still an army barracks.

This map shows it:

Hi Andy

I should imagine that he lived at the barracks because it was a military training school

I'm sorry if this the the wrong place to post but I'm looking for tips on how to find the address that someone was living at when their marriage certificate names an army or RAF barracks. Can anyone help please?

Specifically Shorncliffe, Kent in 1927. The person is my Paternal Grandfather (whom I never knew) and he was a private in the 1st Royal Warwickshire regiment.

Thanks for reading.

Regards,

Andy.
