When their are quarters missing on ancestry? try to clickon any quarter that is for the year you are searching, then at the top of the page where it says You are here: Search > Birth, Marriage & Death > England & Wales, Birth Index: 1837-1983 > 1931 > Q4-Oct-Nov-Dec

clickon the year in this case it is 1931, another page will open with all the available quarters, then clickon the quarter you want, then the initial of the surname you are looking for and navigate using the page number or prev/next page option

All quarters for surname starting Tw are their for 1931

Hi Anne,

I have also had problems with Ancestry. The wrong image is put on the 1901 census for my grandfather. I know where he lived then and have an old print out of Ancestry showing the correct address. Last November 2007 I looked this up and found a totally wrong address showing. I have contacted Ancestry almost weekly since then and all I get is that they are loooking into it.
Its not good enough when we have to pay for wrong information.
Does anyone know how I could get hold of them on the phone as my membership comes up again in Oct and by the way things are going they will not have corrected the census.

What happens sometimes is that an addition has been hand written at the end of the page and puts the alpha sequence out so that Ancestry search mechanism doesn't pick it up. You can find the other qtrs by opening one of them and then clicking on the year at the top of the record . the qtrs then come up and you select the qtr you want then you select the alpha ie "T" then trawl through the indexes till you get to the page you want ,you can short cut that too by noting the page nos on the qtr you can find ie is page o 75 of 101 and then try for around page nos 75 on the new qtr.
Its a bit long winded but at least you can search more qtrs that way

Most of the BMD's on Ancestry are correct but you do sometimes get one that is misindexed (is there such a word).

Usually find that putting in a different surname - try TRO or something similar - click on image and then when it is open keep clicking on next image until you get to the right surnames.

Ancestry do have problems with this and some you never find at all

Anne

Have this problem with Ancestry images all the while. If you care to send me a PM with the name, I will do a look up on The Genealogist for you.

Sorry to hear of your difficulties but now I understand why I can't find certain BMD's on ancestry!

Do you believe this?
I am searching for birth of Tw*** on Ancestry.co.uk. In 1931 they
only have the June quarter there. Would you believe there are no March, September or December? How do you make Ancestry understand that if they are "selling" the records they should all be there unless stipulated otherwise?
I have then paid again and had a look at Genes Reunited bmd's and yes, 1931 is all there. Thankyou.
I would like others to know of Ancestry failings before they subscribe.
Thanks
A Very Annoyed Anne!
