Does anyone know how to convert old money into todays value.

I would like to know how much £200 in 1870 would be worth now.

Thanks!

National archives has a converter

http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/currency/

£9,140.00

it also has an interesting converter to tell you what that money would buy in that year

With 200 pounds, 0 shilling and 0 old penny, in 1870 you could buy...

1,000 x
wages

Days (craftsman wages in building trade)

or

303 x
wool

Wool (per stone)

or

99 x
wheat

Wheat (quarter)

or

37 x

or

13 x
