Is this your Henry in 1851? If it is he is a plasterer. She is an artificial flower maker.

Julie,

What evidence do you have that Henry Richard was from St Pancras? Can you list the family in the later censuses?

A huge thank you to glitter baby that is the second time you have helped me now,(you found another line under the name of thunites!) I do think that is the correct family, now if i can find them in 1881 etc i will be able to close that one. I have now got to work out who Telly really is and whether charles is realy a charlotte as they put down age in both columns and listed him as a girl!!!!!!!!!

I agree. Searching just on first names often works for me.
I've lost count of the number of mistranscriptions for one of my surnames of interest. Using the first name and approximate age and perhaps county I trawl through, keeping a look out for 'odd' names of about the right letter length that aren't normally seen.
Often this means a mistranscription and the image reveals something quite different.

If that doesn't work, I might leave out the age...in case that has been wrongly entered too.

They're often there somewhere, ...just a case of finding them !

What is the occupation of Henry - father or son - as that would be useful.

Are either of them house painters?

You could try looking for a Henry (no middle name or surname) born 1854 +/-5 years with father Henry and mother Mary.

I wondered if anyone has any ideas on the variations I should look for while search for Bannister?
So far I have come up with :
Thunites (a very helpful member found that for me)
Banister
Barister
Has anyone got any other ideas, as i,m a bit stuck with a few missing bannisters and thought they might have been copied incorrectly *closed*
