Hi Shirley,

thanks for replying, so even if his name is not listed on their site i can just put all of the details into the order form and they will find it.

I think Ancestry has a link through which you can order the cert it goes to the GRO website where you use that full GRO to order.
Or you can log onto the site as below. you need to register and then follow the instructions .with the GRO ref you only need to specify the type of cert needed ie birth cert and tick the yes box on the first page of the order that you have the GRO ref. then just the name and the GRO ref where asked for is all you need .pymt is by debit or credit card and costsĀ£7 with the GRO ref .

Hi i have a quick question.
On Ancestry i have found a birth and would like to send for the certificate.
Sep q 1856 Henry Alfred Hamlet Ridgway, St Pancras 1b 75.

I put 1b 75 in on Free BMD and although it has lots of births listed this one is not there.
Does this mean i am unable to obtain the certificate?
