how can i found out if someone was shipped to canada from a work house ?

Katrina on Records Office is offering searches for people in Canada - she might be able to help or at least point you in the right direction.

Or, immigration records?

They could be on the 1901 or 1911 Canadian census:

The site Margaret recommended also has Soldiers of the First World War (with images, as well).
