Thanks - that seems to be them! And I was SO sure that the Notts family were another branch. Just shows how wrong you can be, and how useful it is to have help! Thanks again for your time. Sorry I couldn't acknowledge it sooner - I'm no less grateful.

Llamedos Report 12 Jul 2008 22:07

John Wheatley married Ann - who I think is also Bithiah according to 1861 and 1871 census.

There is a Bithiah Wheatley who died Leicestershire age 65 March quarter of 1884. see freebmd

I'm still looking!

By the way, the John Wheatley b 1817 Gumley who appears on censuses married to Ann and living in Nottinghamshire is not the same person as the John who married Bithiah!

THanks, they have been discovered hiding in Nottingham!

Hi - I still haven't found John and Bithiah on the 1861 and 1871 - getting desperate now!

I am looking for the following family on the 1861 and 1871 census:

John WHEATLEY b 1816 Gumley, Leicestershire
Bithiah WHEATLEY b 1819 Smeeton Westerby Leicestershire
Ann WHEATLEY b 1836 Smeeton
William WHEATLEY b 1839 Smeeton
Thomas WHEATLEY b 1840 Smeeton
James WHEATLEY b 1843 Smeeton
Josiah WHEATLEY b 1847 Leicester
Kate Mary WHEATLEY b 1862 Leicester

I have them in 1851 in Smeeton and again in 1881, this time in Leicester, but I can't find them in between!

Any help would be most appreciated

Thanks

Rosemary
