My great grandfather seems to have gone missing between the 1881 census and the 1901 census.
On his birth and marriage certificates he is Joseph Samuel Wilson but it seems that he was usually called Samuel.

He was born on 20 June 1880 in Reedness to Ellen Wilson (father unknown) and Iived with her and her parents (mother was called Winifred.

It would seem that by 1891 Ellen had gone on to have a least one more child who was living with the grandparents (Ellen is now a live in servant) but Samuel is not on the census.

He married in 1899 and I have found him on the 1901 census where he is named as Damuel.

I can not find any trace of him in 1891 (there is a Samuel Wilson in Hook but I am fairly certain it is not him)

Has anyone any idea as to where he has gone?
