I have managed to track some of my family through the 1901 census. However, I know that there were more children born after that and I know they were all born in Greenwich, London. I have gone through births and found several with the correct surname but unfortunately they do not give the names of mother or father. Is there any other way I can cut the list down?

They will only show the mother's maiden name from 1911 onwards.

1911 census will be released in 1909 (?) I think which will help a lot!

You can apply for an address search of the 1911 census - but you need exact address, details of family etc and it will cost £45.00

Roll on the 1911 census ...

Or - baptisms maybe. If they lived in the same area for a period of years and you have an address in 1901 you might be able to work out which is the local church.

LDS may not have the films - but that's worth checking just in case. Otherwise it might be London Metropolitan Archives.

The only drawback to using the 1911 (apart from the cost before the official release) is that you might still miss some youngsters. If a child was born post 1901 census and died pre 1911 then you won't know about them purely from the census returns. To get the full picture you will need to combine, baptisms, births and census returns.

Thanks very much. I hadn't thought about baptism and if I can't get further I will think about sending for the 1911 census. Thank you again.
