Hi Everyone,
Was just wondering if anyone knows where i may be able to get information on identifying army regiments from just a photograph. I have an old photograph which contains a man in military uniform, on the back it says either 21B or 27B followed by the name Smith, then 8 Howard Rd. The next line of the address is unreadable as the photograph has been ripped at that point. My maternal grandfather's name was Smith and i know he never served in the army as he was a miner in WW2 and would have been too young to serve in WW1. It is possible that it is a picture of his father Isaac Albert Smith born 1875 in Staffordshire but living in Derbyshire by 1899. I have searched the WW1 pension records without any success. If i could find out the regiment he belonged to from the photo it would help to identify him but i have no idea where to start looking. Thanks in advance for any help
Sue
