where to locate constable and sykes family papers,

have got back to 1736 with my family research and have come to a halt. i have discovered that my ancestor was a tenant farmer of the above families,who owned vast estates in the north of england and possibly scotland.
could anyone advise me where these papers could be keep and the address if possible so i can follow up
