Yes Jim - it's a possibility. Eliza isn't found in 1871 but shows up as BWS widow in 1881

I thought from the beginning that
Julia Minnie and Eliza were the same person.
Now you say that they share
the same or similar maiden name.
Can you find Eliza in 1871?

Thanks all of you so far. All your info is absolutely correct about Julia Minnie / Eliza / Henry Broad / Benjamin Walter Strong and so on.

On one birth certificate she is Julia Minnie Shadwell and then she becomes Julia Minnie Shadbolt on the next. Eliza Shadbolt took over at some time after 1873. Eliza married Henry Broad at the tiume of Benjamin Walter Strong's death in Croydon in 1885. The name Julia M. Broad is used on one child's death cert in 1892 . Eliza chnaged her place of birth to Glasgow in one census - she was in fact from Shoreditch.

What I am klooking for is tips as to where else to look apart from Scottish census; English census and BD&M please. Julia Minnie isn't seen other than in 1871 Census in Islington. No birth; no marriage and no death records.

I have been trying to find any Shadwells on Scottish census - does not really sound a Scottish surname.

Does she change her place of birth on later census?

Suggestions please. Julia Minnie is shown on 1871 Census and on birth certificate as my Great Grandfather's mother. Wife of Benmjamin Walter Strong, a tailor.

Can't find any records of her birth, marriage or death. Said to have come from Glasgow and born around 1849.

Any thoughts on where to look? Done BM&D: done English census; done Scottish census. Ideas?
