Hi All

Im pretty new to this and am trying to research my husbands tree.

We know practiaclly nothing about his fathers side apart from his fathers name and his grandmothers name and what we think is his grandfathers name. They were all born in South Africa but I have absolutely no idea where I can found out more information (I am in UK)

Any help would be GREATLY appreicated.

Hi Megan, The National Archives of South Africa could be worth a try.

I found a marriage & a divorce on there.

Thanks for that. Ive had a quick look but it says that if you want information for genealogical research that you have to employ a freelance researcher? How did you get the copies of your certificates?

Hi Megan,
If you go to the section NAAIRS you can search the different databases(I found mine on TAB database) ,You can then print the details that you may find.

I must admit it was a bit time consuming searching each database..

Hi Megan, I was lucky that the divorce I found had the dates etc., so I didn't apply for full details.
If you go to the home page,it explains how to contact the relevant archive repository quoting source code,volume nos. & ref.nos.
