Hi Jacquie,

You can search for Vlaardingen records on the Vlaardingen Municipal Archives website: http://www.vlaardingen.nl/isis/
Click on "Sources" to see what records are currently available online.

Although Vlaardingen Municipal Archives are listed as a participant of Genlias, the Vlaardingen records do not appear to be included in the search database at this time. For more info and contact details for Vlaardingen Municipal Archives, see: http://www.genlias.nl/en/page2235.jsp

You didn't mention what names you're looking for, but it could also be worth reading the Search Instructions, which explain about searching for Dutch names (for example, don't include prefixes like "van" or "de" in the surname field): http://www.genlias.nl/en/page12.jsp

Hi Jacquie, I know a bit about Austria. Bit is the operative word I'm afraid, but what are you trying to find, what period, and whereabouts in Austria?

Thanks Richard, have previously tried this site, but didn't manage to find any information - probably because I know very little other than my grandfathers name, and some of the more recent family names.

This one's good for civil registration in the Netherlands. It's not complete yet but worth a look. The website has an English version too (click on the link top right on the home page), and it's free to search. Dates covered are from c1811, to:

births: 1903
marriages: 1923
deaths: 1953

Can anybody let me know if there is a way of searching for relatives in these countries - I am particularly interested in Vlaardingen in Holland, as I know some of the dutch family still live there, but nobody is in touch. I'm hoping to trace my great grandfather,

Thanks Jacquie
