you may also be able to find the mother's maiden name on some of the county bmd records!

Lancashire BMD, for example, carries them going back to about 1840.

Go to www.ukbmd.org.uk, enter county of inteest in search box at left, and see what you find.

hi all, does anyone know in which year of the bmd files for births that the mothers maiden name was added.
