hi pam. my great grandfather was also a sydney. because he shortened it to sidie and used that all day everyday. he eventually started writing his name as Sidney. don't ask me why. perhaps i just have an odd family! alo his wife's brother was Sidney ACTUALLY spelt with an I.

re change of name on his marriage certificate .... ....could be just ignorant registrar/recording clerk transcribing the information into the records!!


If you buy the certificate you will be able to see what spelling he actually used!!

I can't see them on either the 1891 or 1901 censuses, so it looks as though they might have left the UK between 1882 and 1891!

My great grand father Sydney Robert Weatherley (b 1861) East Chislehurst, Kent married to Ellen Trebell.
They came to New Zealand, unable to find out when or how..
If anyone has any more information regarding their details etc, it would be greatly appreciated.
