Hi Elton

Do you have any other info about the married couple e.g maiden name of Jack's wife or where they might have married. I'm assuming that she was not Emily Stephens if that was her name in 1950.

I did a search on Ancestry from 1923-1929 and came across three Jack Slaters. Places of marriage Warrington, Gloucester and Lewisham and spouses names Fergusson, Smith and Smeeth.

I can look further if you like but a bit more info would be helpful. I'm wondering if we should also be looking for John as a first name as I know sometimes Jack was used as a nickname for John.

Moonbeam.

Hi Elton,

Rootschat is a great website but you will have to scan the photograph you have and add it to your post on the website so they can view it to tell you the year etc.

Cheers Betty I will give it a go. It's a pity I positively ID the bride, a very beautiful bride as well.

Hi Elton,

There is a great website called Rootschat where they repair and colour and also date old photographs. If you copy and paste this link below it will take you to the photograph section of the board, just look at some of the things they can do as well as dating old pictures.

Hello Kath

The marriage is just outside the years that have been transcribed. They fade out after the mid 1920's. I have found a passenger list for 1950 London to NZ for Jack Salter & Emily Adeline Stephens both age 53 last known address in Tregoney Cornwall. The age matches Jack but no marriage...........

It may mean a expensive trudge through the marriage indexes.

I don't know about dating the photo, but if you know the names of the couple you could look at the complete index on Ancestry for the marriage (or ask someone to look it up for you).

Hello

I have a photo of my grandmothers 1st cousins' wedding. From the clothes it could be 1920's to early 1930's - taken at Broadway Studios Newmarket. A later photo shows a family group about 10-12 years later at Belwood Studios Auckland.

Can anybody help?

Regards
Elton
