Hi John, this is a very very old thread you have replied to :-)

If you would like to contact Ellie herself your best chance is to click on her name and send her a private message

she may not be actively using this site anymore but if her account has a current email address she will get a notice of your private message ( but not of this reply in her thread )

otherwise your best bet is to use the 'search trees' button to find any other members with any of this family in their trees

Hi all,

I'm just restarting the Oloman trail; William Oloman (b.1809) who married Elizabeth had a son, John O (1834-1900) who married Ellen Hudson (1857-1887 ?)who gave birth among many to Annie Oloman (1875-1959)who married Tom Freeman (1876-1922); they were my maternal grandparents, my mother Ellie (1911-1987) being one of the 9 (8 lived) children of that union. Any trees gratefully received.

Well done Ellie - wish I could do the same with my dad's paternal grandma!! It's great when it happens isn't it!!

Just as a quick update ...

Thank you so much Libby and Jill.

From this, I have been in contact with fourth cousins on GR and added 55 Olomans to my tree as well as a variety of others who've married into the family, so this has been a real breakthrough!

Regards, Ellie

Libby, Jill, you are geniuses!!

Thank you so much. I knew it just needed a fresh pair of eyes or two and for someone to "think outside the box" as they say in management speak!

Much appreciated.

I have discovered from freebmd that John Saint (b.1836, West Moor, Northumberland) married Jane Ollman in the June quarter of 1869 and from the census returns after their marriage that Jane was born about 1849 in West Rainton, Durham.

However, I cannot find any other Ollmans in the area, or find Jane on any censes before she was married - or even her birth. Admittedly I haven't ordered the marriage certificate yet (been sitting on this for a couple of years and following other easier lines), but wondered if any eagle eyed spotters out there could find any further info?

I am pretty sure that someone else on GR had her down as Olloman (but no further info), so that may be an alternative spelling to look for.

Any assistance would be gratefully appreciated.

Many thanks.
