can anyone tell me if a george colquhoun and helen stewart married in 1956 had any children - george had a son from his first marriage.

There are over 1800 births with that surname from 1956 to present day, Scotlandspeople doesn't allow the mmn to be specified as a search criteria so it isn't possible to say how many potential births there are.

If you know roughly where and when then it can be narrowed down and the number of credits you would need to view the results would be less.

have just purchased some credits but have come to a dead end - have found about 5 births around right time and place but can't confirm parents as you can't view images like you and english ones

To see the details of post 1907 births you would need the ref given in the results to order the extract of the register.

That will give you all the details (name, date, place of birth, name of parents, date of parents marriage etc).


Pre 1907 births can be downloaded from the site but the more recent stuff has to be ordered.

You can't view them online, they have to be ordered (similiar to all England/Wales certs).

I'm not sure fo the cost as i have never had to order a later one.


The GROS site (General Register Office for Scotland) has details about prices and services;
