the name polynous

thankyou all.It does seem to be greek my ancestor went from being Polynous Brooks to Polynous Unsworth v strange oh well.

Polynous is not from the Greek --Poly, yes= more than .Polynous is not in the Greek dictionary

Polonius: Polon(y)us is a simple anagram of the Greek word polynous, made up of the words poly (more than one) and nous (mind). = The complete word polynous means 'thoughtful' or 'profound'.

Polonius may be derived from the name 'Polonia' a historic Latin term for the region of Poland. Polonius is a character in Shakespeare's 'Hamlet'
