How about MS Live Maps

http://maps.live.com/

A little out of date....but can get lower to ground than Google Earth.
I use it alot.

Wolin and Rowno both appear in a search on Google.

Wolin looks interesting. It seems to be an island.

Many thanks. Google Earth has been useful, but I haven't fully explored MultiMap. I'll follow that up.

Thanks

Multimap? That's where I'd start. (I expect you've tried this though) - or Google Earth which is fabulous.

If it's WW2 period then somewhere there must be old maps ... I'm sure one of the online map sites has an historical version - or have I imagined that? The British Library must have old atlases surely? The War Office?

Sorry thinking aloud and not helping much ...

Can anyone suggest how I can locate a place abroad? Poland is the destination, from WW2 and earlier. The borders and language change so many times I am having difficulty .The place is Alexandria,Rowne {Rowno}Wolyn {Wolin}Poland, I've been to Polish sites but confused.

Any help much appreciated.
