Deaths Mar 1880

Jones Female 0 Bedwelty 11a 93
Jones Female 0 Newton A. 5b 89
Jones Female 0 Lichfield 6b 274
Jones Female 0 Merthyr T. 11a 328

Hope that helps,

Hi all and thanks for your replies

I use family historian programme which i am continually updating as and when i get new information and / or the time to sit and log it.But i am still getting to know it's limitations (or should that be my limitations) Then every few months i plan to upload the new gedcom.

I have got very definate links to many peoples trees but i am never sure whether or not to add them to mine.......................feels a little like cheating! but then what is the point of reworking already validated work!

My brother-in-law has a huge tree that i could add to mine but im not sure whether to or just keep the two trees seperate but joined, (i hope this makes sense)

I have read on here many times people saying about name collectors whos only aim is to get as many people as possible, and not substantiate any of the information.

Some days i get very dispondant with the progress or lack of progress i have made. Like today i sat for quite a while trying to find a baby that died just after birth.............with no luck i might add! It is nice to here other peoples views!

Thanks again

Tracy

I think the answer to your question is to put whatever you're comfortable with in your tree.

Here's an example from my tree:
My g grandparents are George Thirlaway & Martha Bagnall; they were marr 1887 at All Saints, Newcastle.
The GRO index has two entries:
B-1897q4 Thirlaway Robert Bagnall Newcastle T. 10b 182
D-1898q3 Thirlwell Robert Bagnall 0 Newcastle T. 10b 142

I have no hesitation in placing Robert in my tree, although he'll never appear in the census, and I'll never be able to afford the $30 his two certs would cost me.

Tracy, get yourself a familytreemaker program - from my-history or twr computing - its only about a tenner and includes a sub to ancestry and then enter every detail on the program as you go along. That way you wont lose sources or information.

Hi Tracy,
Post an example and ask if people could tell you which site held any details they may find.

Take time to read the various Tips on the boards here on GR as there is a lot of advice freely available.
How to use the FreeBMD site
How to use the IGI site
etc

I think I am going crazy.........................why can't i find things that other people tell me are there!!

I am still very new at this and sometimes miss the totally obvious answer!

Without going into details, last year i posted a question on another site and got several very helpful answers.

After a break for personal reasons, I have come back to my research and i just dont seem to be able to tie anything up, some births i have verified , with no christening, marriage or death details can be found.

or i can verify christening then nothing else

or death but not birth

I dont like adding facts to my tree without bdm details but when census's are all i have then i have used them hoping that in time all the other details will come , not sure whether this is correct procedure or not. I keep going back to the beginning and filling in some of the blank spaces as i find them , im hoping that as i gain experience, the spaces will reduce.

any tips would be welcome please.

many thanks

Tracy
