Hi Jennifer

Thanks for the advice. I think I will order the marriage certificate as you advise for Richard and Margaret.

I have searched the Divorce's on NA but the Divorce was between Percy Burns and Olive Burns (my Nan) and it doesn't show up on there.

Thanks again

Melanie

To go back any further you really need the Marriage cert of Margaret Richards and Richard Burns which will give you their father's name and occupations.

If you search on the National Arcives site for a divorce you will see it took place in 1933:

Divorce Court File: 8741. Appellant: Percy William Burn. Respondent: Margaret Burn. Co-respondent: William Edwin Winnington Blair. Type: Husband's petition for divorce [HD].
Covering dates 1933
Availability Open Document, Open Description, Normal Closure before FOI Act: 30 years
Held by The National Archives, Kew

If you wanted a copy you can ask for a price before buying either hard copy or by download.

Contacted relative of above but not replying anymore.

Am I jumping to conclusions about the connections between the above people or is the co-incidence too much ?

I know I need to order more certificates but which ones would you go for:

A) to confirm the Percy buried is 'my' Percy.
B) to trace the family back to the 1891 Census.

If you have not fallen asleep by now thanks for taking the time to read this.

Thanks

Melanie
