My husband's great great grandfather was publican at this address according to the 1881 census - can anyone suggest how we can find the name of the public house or where we can look please.

Hello Jill,
No, he is only at that address in 1881, all other times he is living in Belper Derbyshire where he was born. I need to find a means for tracing the public house at that address.

It usually tells you the name of the pub on the census. What is his name?

Hello Heather,
His name is William Brown born 1843(age 38)Duffield,Derbyshire Publican the reference is RG11
325, we cannot see a public house name,the other people living there have jobs associated with the trade - barmaid,potman,domestic cook etc.
