Kazza, did you see that you can get 25% of the price back if you go through quidco.com??

Ancestry does seem to be the fave, but am dissappointed at the high rise in cost. I rang them last night and the guy told me to pay £10 a month if I didnt want to pay the £83. So I joined the free 14 day trial with a different e-mail addy, obviously I dont have my tree on there, but I still have access to my other and can use it just for searching, I'll give it the 2 weeks and might just give in and pay the new price, I do like ancestry and I do like the way my tree is on there.

I did look at findmypast but that doesnt seem to have what I wanted and turned out to be more expensive.

I'll just see what happens now.

Been at this genealogical lark for two years now and for me Ancesty is number one. They have more complete records than anyone on the web and their search results system is second to none. Their transcriptions are occasionally a bit sus though. However I also find their price is beyond my reach now, so I have to put up with searching on other sites offering cheaper rates. Without success I might add. I should've renewed with Ancestry. Spent nearly that amount subscribing to incomplete records sites. Rember you get what you pay for. After you hand over the reddies is no time to find out their records are incomplete or only cover certain counties or time periods. Check Check and don't believe the hype. Good Luck. Anthony.

Kazza, I still think ancestry is the best buy.
Why dont you join quidco.com (Ive had over £600 cash back in 2 years from that site) - on there if you click the link to ancestry you get 25% of the cost back into your quidco account.

Best value for money is ScotlandsPeople, but that presupposes Scottish ancestors.

There is "Findmypast" where you can buy "credits" or have a subscription, but personally I think Ancestry is the best value for money.

I have cancelled my sub for Ancestry as i'm not willing to pay the new high price. I made a call to them but they werent willing to haggle.

So I am now looking for somewhere else to maybe join any ideas anyone.
