Member Since: April 2008 Posts: 6 Send Message	Thank you for looking John & Glitter Baby. Taghmon is definitely a possibility, although I did think the 1st letter looked like a Q. It is quite distinct & doesn't seem to appear anywhere else on the surrounding pages. I also wondered if the last few letters might be "-say" or "-sey", but I just can't seem to match this with any place I know of in Wexford. I'll keep looking though - bitten by the bug! Thanks again guys!

Member Since: January 2006 Posts: 3 Send Message	The original image on Ancestry is very faint, which makes it very dificult to read and the practice of drawing a line through an entry doesn't make it any easier. But I have compared the original image to a list of towns in Wexford that I found online http://www.countywexford.com/wexford_wexford.htm and the only name I can find that has a vague resemblance to what is on the original image is Taghmon

I have just realised that the witnesses at John & Bridget Hawkins' marriage were John & Mary Connell, so I guess this is them. Still struggling with the birthplace though - trying to translate Qughmogh into something meaningful is proving a bit of a challenge! I have compared the handwriting with Wexford place names on various internet sites, but nothing seems likely. I'm hoping there is an expert out there in census handwriting & villages of County Wexford who may be able to make sense of it - if anyone fits the bill please let me know! Thanks again for your help Sandra

	I think the name could possibly be Cohnale, that' s what it looks like on next page for son Lawrence.

I've looked at the original image time & again & I still can't work it out! Any guesses or suggestions of possible towns/villages in County Wexford would be most welcome.
