Hi everyone!

I am hoping that someone will be able to help me please - i am looking for my grandfather Anthony Williams who was born approx 1939. All i know of him was that he was a National Serviceman in 1957/58 and was stationed at Budbrooke Barracks in Warwickshire - he was in the parachute regiment and was thought to have been sent abroad in 57/58. I can't request his service records because i don't know whether he is still alive or not or exactly when he was born......

Has anyone got any ideas where i can go from here???

All help would be really appreciated!
Jo

Sorry Jo I can´t help, but I´ll nudge up your request as I know there are a lot of military knowledgable members on here.
Good luck

If you order the birth cert for his son/daughter (your father/mother) then at least you will know the names of both your grandparents (including the maiden name of your grandmother).

This will help to find the marriage certificate for them which in turn should tell you the names of your great grandfathers plus give you the ages of the couple when they married.

Hi. Thankyou for your replies. Its a bit complicated in that he probably didn't know my mum was born as he was sent abroad before it was discovered my grandmother was pregnant. To further complicate it he isn't named on my mums birth certificate but he is named in her adoption file (my mum was put up for adoption at 6 months old). My grandmother died in 1987 so i never got a chance to know her or ask her anything about it. She didn't marry Anthony either so there is no marriage certificate.......What a nightmare!!
