A cousin once removed would be one of your parent's first cousins,to your children it would be twice removed. A great aunt/uncle is one of your grandparents siblings. There are some useful tables you can download if you google. Eileen

Hi Simon

A great aunt/uncle would be your grandmother/grandfather's brother or sister. Don't know if the term is extended to their marriage partners though.

Let me get this right cos it has always bugged me.

A first cousin is the child of one of my parent's siblings. Cousins of my parents are cousins one removed. Cousins of my grandparents are probably cousins twice removed.

Okay, I have that.

Now, what are second and third cousins?

I can read Wikepedia till I am blue in the face but cannot understand a word. So what relationship is the child of my first cousin?
Margaret.

Margaret
The child of your first cousin is one generation away from yourself, .... and so they are your cousin once removed.

Any children of THAT person would be a cousin twice removed ( being 2 generations away from you)
