Descendants of Deceased Adopted Persons

If your parent or grandparent was adopted in the UK, but died without seeking access to their birth records then you as a descendant are not allowed access to this information in terms of the Adoption and Children's Act.

A group of people who are descendants of adopted persons/parents believe this is unjust and are gathering information on how many people are affected and who could benefit from a change to the Act.

If you are a descendant of an adopted person who has tried to get access to birth information and hit a brick wall or, if you have tried and been successful, then we would like to hear from you. Please reply to this message in confidence and I will get back to you with more information.

Hope to hear from you soon.

PS - If you know your adopted parent's birth name then this does not affect you because you can apply for certificates in the usual way.

Dear Frances

Do tell all your friends to post a message on my site -www.myfolks.org.uk and a site of my friend - www.lookupuk.com

I am sure this will highlight and hopefully aid the search.

I have journalist friends that may aid all in this need to find information.
