Hi daddymuzza,

Thanks for your reply!! This is my main problem GRONI I mean, I have tried several times to get birth and marriage certificates from them but when they search they say the don't have them. I have found a marriage and two baptisms when the children were just 2 weeks old and GRONI don't have either the marriage (which I have the exact date for) or the births, they searched found nothing but just charged £5 for each search which they say they did over a two year period.

For the price you have to pay for the limited info you would be as well applying for the actual birth cert

http://www.groni.gov.uk/

It works out at about the same price as a search on Ancestryireland if you know the GRO reference number £12 if you dont

Hi daddymuzza and Teresa,

Sorry for late reply, I did check the thread earlier and as no reply then just nudged it.

I was really trying to get info on births I know the exact month and year of both these births also exactly where they were born in Belfast which was in 1878 and 1880 but want to find the names of the parents to double check I have the correct details. I haven't used this website before so I wasn't sure what they gave you. Does it give the fathers full name and mothers maiden name do you know?.

Don't know whether this applies to all of Ireland..but for some parish records in Co Dublin for 1840's they only show mimimum amount of details.......
Date, Church and Bride and Groom's names, nothing else.

Oh.... the joys of tracing the Irish!

Has anyone used this website, if so can you tell me if you get an actual image of a birth certificate or is it just printed details.
I have found a few births of my rellies and thought about buying these certificates.
