The child is still alive and he knows that he was adopted and from info from others he knows that he is a full biological brother to myself. He has a tree on GR and I have exchanged messages, although he hasn't allowed me access to his tree. he did ask for my phone number !!! Although since both his adopted parents have passed away he hasn't been in touch with any family members. Thanks for the replies anyway and I will heed your warnings and leave this aspect of the family tree until I have spoken to him if I ever get to speak to him

It depends what family tree software you're using. FTM for example allows you to have more than one set of parents for an individual - you then select the relationship for each one - natural, adopted, etc. That way you can show both sets of relationships correctly. You can't do that on this site, but as stated above if the person is still alive then you shouldn't put them on here anyway.

Perhaps put the child with natural parents but put a note about the adoption. Or put the child with the adoptive parents with a note about the natural parents. But as has been said, if the child is still alive, he should not be named.

Since he is the biological child of your parents, you need to add him to them.

If this "baby" is still alive which I very much hope he/she is, my advise would be NOT to put them on any internet tree.

My mum had a baby whilst young to my father and he was adopted out to her uncle and aunt......how do I record this on the family tree............do i bother recording it with my mum or do i simply place him on her aunt and uncle or do i do both?
