The K indicates that he was a stoker with at least 10 years service - Is there not a letter prior to the K which would indicate his home port?

You could try the National Archives.

My 2x gt uncle served in the Royal Navy...I was able to download his service records for £3.50.

Could the spelling be HMS Diadem...if you google there are quite a few websites.

I know very little about an ancestor - approximate year of birth (1881) and name of course.
However we have his dog tag from the Royal Navy, K40698 STO.
Also have a photo of him wearing an HMS Diaden uniform hat.
Is it possible to find out more about him especially his exact date of birth from records somewhere.
I'd be grateful if anyone can point me in the right direction
Richard
