My AVG has for quite some time been telling me my update manager has failed. I have been able to click on 'update now' and it is fine for a few hours. Now when I click on it I am told that the update has failed because a .bin file is missing.

WHO STOLE IT? How can I get it back?

HELP, PLEASE.

Huia.

Copy n pasted from other thread on General.

a "binary" file =.bin
is file which contains programmed information.

Its a problem their end..not ours..they have not got the file in the correct place for the program to automatically download....hence the program cannot find the file needed....

You can download the others and update those manually..BUT the other file we will have to wait for them to sort it out their end....

hope you understand that :)

Once they discover they have not placed the file correctly their end..im sure they will fix it then AVG will download as usual

Go here and download the files at bottom of page to a folder on desktop and use the update manager from the tools menu

Close all progms, open AVG 8 setup via setup icon, click accept to everthing until the type of installation window appears, then click on repair or replace missing files [middle button] and then continue or next. After it has completed the repair, reboot and check status of AGV, it should start to scan your system automatically, you should have a double icon on the bottom right of screen. One will be scan running the other will be AGV normal. It will take a while to complete the scan and then the icon will dissapear. Done this a few times, different compt, and it works ok every time.

I tried things suggested on the other thread but could not get into the sites. However when I got up half an hour ago I found the problem had been fixed (fingers crossed) by 'the other end'.
